FAQs: Registration & Data Protection
If you create an order on behalf of a company, you are a business client. However, if you create an order for private use, you are a private customer. This distinction is important for us for billing purposes.
As security and privacy are considered very important at lingoking, we would like to grant this protection of privacy and data security to our language service providers as well.
To ensure that the times, such as the delivery or start date of an order, are correctly displayed to you as well as to the language service providers, you must specify your time zone when registering.
If you order a text translation, the delivery date will be displayed in your time zone.
Thus, the times displayed to you may be different from those of the language service provider if they live in a different time zone than you.
We carry out all projects with the utmost confidentiality. We only work with certified translators who are required to sign a strict confidentiality agreement in order to meet our high security standards.
Of course, we can also sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) directly with you. Feel free to ask us about it!
Your documents and translations will be deleted 90 days after completion of your order. Two weeks in advance you will receive an email asking you to check whether you have downloaded the respective translations.
We require this information as proof of entrepreneurial status and for the correct tax treatment of the services provided. The tax number or a VAT ID must be provided for all business customers. Companies within the EU indicate either their tax number or VAT ID, companies from third countries their respective tax number.
FAQs: Service & Quality
A specialist translation that includes proofreading by a second native-speaker specialist translator represents the highest level of quality in translations. It always makes sense to choose a proofreading service if the translated texts are to be published (e.g. websites, marketing material, PR texts). For contracts or similar, a translation should never be booked without proofreading.
No proofreading is necessary for translations with certifications. Where a translation is only used for internal or private purposes, proofreading is not absolutely necessary. Nevertheless, we recommend that you ask our staff directly if proofreading makes sense for your translation request.
Yes! All lingoking translators have completed translator training and have several years of professional experience. This enables us to ensure that our translations are of impeccable quality. If the delivered text does not meet your expectations, simply contact our project managers. We will do everything we can to resolve your concern as quickly as possible. Our quality policy offers you up to 100% discount if the translation quality was inadequate.
At lingoking, quality is our top priority! We work exclusively according to the criteria of DIN EN ISO 17100. Moreover, we have developed our own quality pledge in close cooperation with professional interpreters, universities and associations, which guarantees security, trust and the highest quality. Every lingoking translator must have a recognised qualification and undergoes rigorous checks. They're also required to sign a strict non-disclosure agreement. Our competent staff will be happy to tell you more about it.
Translators who apply to lingoking must have special skills, which are strictly checked by us. For example, all of our language service providers have a degree from an ATA-certified university or college or several years of professional experience. Only if we deem the language service provider suitable, will they be accredited.
Because only accredited language service providers have access to our platform and only language service providers with suitable skills receive notification of a new assignment, you do not need to worry that the translator may not be suitable for your assignment. Of course, this is also the case if the order is handled manually for you by our project management team.

FAQs: Translation Services
In principle, translations are possible in all languages and dialects.

According to the Federal Foreign Office, German documents are often only recognised by the authorities of another state if their authenticity or probative value has been established in a special procedure. Depending on the country, this is done either by an apostille or legalisation.
If documents and certificates issued abroad are to be presented to German authorities or courts, for example, a certified translation of the relevant documents is usually required. In order to be sworn in by the court, the translator must prove their professional and linguistic qualifications to the court so that the highest possible standard of quality of the translations can be guaranteed. The sworn translator certifies the accuracy of the translation and its conformity with the original with their signature and stamp.
This procedure is also sufficient in many cases if German documents are to be presented abroad.
Tip: If you have to submit the translation to the consulate, make sure you specify whether the translation is to be done explicitly by a translator registered at the consulate. The consulate will be happy to give you more information on this.
You need an apostille if the country in which you wish to present your documents is a party to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents of 15 October 1961.
You need authentication/legalisation if the country in which you wish to present your documents is not a party to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents of 15 October 1961.
Certified translations to be submitted in Germany can only be processed by a translator sworn in Germany.
Different regulations apply depending on the state in which the translation is required. Please check in advance with the competent authority what the necessary requirements are for this translation.
If you order a certified translation from lingoking, please indicate the country in which this document is required! This information must be provided so that a suitable translator can take on the job.
Note: If you have to submit the translation to the consulate, make sure you specify whether the translation is to be done explicitly by a translator registered at the consulate. The consulate will be happy to give you more information on this.
FAQs: Translation Prices & Delivery
Documents such as certificates, driving licences and diplomas are largely similar in length and structure and can therefore each be offered at a standard price. For individual text requests or more complex projects, which are generally handled by our project management team, we calculate the costs based on the number of words, the corresponding language combination and the subject area.
The more extensive the project, the more leeway there is in pricing. Get in touch, and we'll be happy to advise you on this.
Documents, driving licences and certificates, but also brochures and press releases are among our most frequently booked translation services. These are largely similar and can be offered in a standardised way with a few additional service options. And it's easy with our digital WebShop.
For further prices, please refer to the respective translation service in our lingoking WebShop!
Our principle: fair and transparent pricing. All translators at lingoking work to the highest quality standards.
Here’s the best part: you order at a transparent fixed price or receive an individual offer in advance. The costs depend on the length, language and the type of text.

For larger projects (e.g. websites, manuals, non-certificates), we calculate approximately up to 2,000 words per day. The speed depends on various factors: the complexity of the source text, quality of the source document, form/readability of the source file etc. For this reason, the delivery date for larger projects may vary from the delivery date indicated in the booking process. However, we always strive to deliver as quickly as possible while maintaining the highest quality standards. If you have any questions about this, please contact us and we will be happy to answer them.
